System Requirements Engineer

The Requirements Engineer is responsible for managing and maintaining all product and system requirements on System Level 1 (Sys1) and System Level 2 (Sys2) in alignment with the V-Model development process.
A key focus of this role is the structured use of the Polarion ALM platform to ensure transparency, traceability, and consistency of all requirements throughout the development lifecycle.
The Requirements Engineer acts as a central interface between stakeholders and the engineering teams to ensure that system requirements are complete, validated, and correctly decomposed.
What is it about?
Capture, analyze, and structure system requirements at Sys1 and Sys2 levels in accordance with V-Model principles.
Maintain and administer the requirement database in Polarion, ensuring consistent use of workflows, trace links, attributes, and approval processes.
Create, review, and update requirement specifications, including functional, non-functional, and interface requirements.
Support the decomposition of high-level requirements (Sys1) into detailed technical requirements (Sys2).
Ensure bidirectional traceability from stakeholder requirements to verification activities within Polarion.
Facilitate requirement workshops and reviews with engineering, product management, and customers.
Evaluate change requests, assess impacts, and maintain the requirement baseline in Polarion.
Collaborate with system architects and domain engineers to ensure system concepts align with documented requirements.
Support verification and validation teams by ensuring test cases, acceptance criteria, and verification methods are correctly linked to requirements.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of requirement engineering methods, templates, and Polarion workflows.
Who are we looking for?
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
Proven experience in requirements engineering or systems engineering, ideally in complex mechatronic or mechanical systems.
Hands-on experience with Polarion ALM (mandatory).
Solid understanding of the V-Model and structured system development processes.
Ability to create clear, consistent, and testable requirements.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication skills for cross-functional and international collaboration.
High attention to detail and a structured working style.
Preferred Skills
Experience with traceability management and impact analysis in ALM tools.
Knowledge of model-based systems engineering (MBSE) and SysML is an advantage.
Familiarity with industry standards and norms (e.g., ISO/IEC standards).
Background in valve technology, HVAC, automotive, or other regulated mechanical/mechatronic fields is beneficial.
